What is a plating tank?

Introduction of plating tank

The electroplating tank is the most basic equipment in the electroplating equipment, also known as the electroplating water tank. Production materials: There are PP material, PVC material, PVDF material, glass fiber reinforced plastic groove material, stainless steel groove material, masonry granite material, PTFE material (can be used in any acid) and other materials of the tank body.

Plating tank use

The plating tank is used to install the solution for zinc plating, copper plating, nickel plating, gold plating, etc. The cathode moving electroplating tank is composed of a steel tank lined with soft polyvinyl chloride plastic tank body, a conductive device, a steam heating tube and a cathode moving device. The tank body can also be made of steel frame lined with hard polyvinyl chloride plastic. The choice of the tank body structure depends on the properties and temperature of the electroplating bath.

The main components of the tank include tank body, solution heating and cooling device, conductive device and stirring device. The tank body sometimes directly holds solutions such as hot water tanks, and sometimes the basic requirements of the lining matrix or skeleton, such as steel tanks, are no leakage and have a certain degree of rigidity and strength, so as to avoid damage to the lining layer due to excessive deformation of the tank body; steel The bottom of the groove should be 100mm~120mm from the ground to prevent serious corrosion.

Generally speaking, the size of the electroplating water tank refers to the volume (L) of the electrolyte contained in the cavity of the electroplating water tank, that is, the length of the cavity of the electroplating tank × the width of the cavity × the depth of the electrolyte. Generally, the selection can be calculated according to the conditions such as the amount of electroplating processing or the existing DC power supply equipment. It is of great significance to select the appropriate size of the electroplating tank for compiling the growth plan, estimating the output and ensuring the quality of electroplating.

When determining the size of the electroplating water tank, the following three basic conditions must be met:

  1. Meet the electroplating requirements of the processed parts, if the parts can be completely immersed, all surfaces need to be electroplated;
  2. Prevent the electrolyte from overheating;
  3. It can maintain a certain stability of the electrolyte composition content in the electroplating production cycle.

Of course, at the same time, the overall coordination of the production line must be taken into account to meet the requirements of the rationality of the layout of the electroplating workshop. The material used to make the lining of the electroplating tank is determined by the properties of the electrolyte contained in it (corrosion resistance, temperature resistance, etc.). Commonly used are polyvinyl chloride, polypropylene hard (soft) sheet, titanium sheet, lead sheet, ceramics, etc.

The plating tank is generally rectangular, with a width of 600 to 1000 mm and a depth of 800 to 1200 mm. Electroplating baths for extra-large or special-required parts are made separately.
